NBX license violation

NBX license violation

I've made the statements that the 3Com NBX 100 contains GNU software.

This page is to let people verify this for themselves.

You need to find the version you are running and get access to the CLI port. You do this by hooking a cable between a PC and to COM1 on the NXB Call Processor card. The cable I use is a Serial Mouse Extention cable. Windows inclues a program called hyperterminal however I tend to use TeraTerm Pro.

Once you have the program running, you should get a command prompt:
nbx100->
If you type "help" and press enter it will show you the commands it understands

nbx100-> help
help Print this list
dbgHelp Print debugger help info
...

VersionstatusAddress
R1_1_1good43bdf0
R2_6_2maybe5e31d8
R2_8_8good612760
R3_0_13good6d9730
R4_0_14maybe4c27e0
R4_1_4maybe509a70
R4_1_11maybe50e618
R4_1_21good50fd18

The numbers above that have been labled as "good" have been tested by me.

If you have version R4_1_21 you would type this:
nbx100-> 0x50fd18()

This shows that the main program (called vxWorks) includes GNU software. That means the 3com is required by the license agreement to publish the source code and offer it to anyone that has recieved a copy of the program called vxWorks.
